About Lilan Kane
Lilan Kane (LEE-lawn) is an Oakland-based musician, educator and businesswoman who graduated from Berklee College of Music as a voice principle with a degree in Music Business and Management. While residing in NYC, she interned in the Executive branch at Atlantic Records studying A&R, Radio Promotion and Marketing. She consecutively interned in Public Relations at Jazz At Lincoln Center. She worked with jazz/hip hop concert promotion company Revive Music Group, Upper 11 Records and Management, and formed her own management company, LK Management. Upon returning to the Bay Area, she worked with independent jazz label Wide Hive Records and interned at the SF Bay Guardian becoming a published writer with two cover stories.
A true entrepreneur, Lilan co-founded the award-winning summer singing camp, Own The Mic, in Marin County and also created one of the most in-demand private event bands in the greater Bay Area, Hella Fitzgerald, booking over 125 events in 2019. She is an avid educator directing vocal programs at San Domenico School for 8 years, as well as teaching at California Jazz Conservatory, the Performing Arts Academy of Marin and serving as interim director of teen a cappella group Til Dawn.

As a vocalist, Lilan has sold out multiple shows and residencies at Yoshi's Oakland and SFJAZZ, opened for Hall & Oates, Sharon Jones, Morgan James and others. She has graced the stage of numerous festivals and venues nationwide and she has three recorded albums.

Educated by her various professional experiences, Lilan developed a deep understanding of the art and business of music from all sides and remains dedicated to her craft and her community. She is committed to her community and is passionate about teaching artists how to understand the business.
